Google Analytics

Google Analytics is an extremely usefully tool for your web site. We've been using it since it came out (I've got a friend at Google) and the amount of information just keeps getting bigger and better.

Since you can also integrate your AdWords campaign data into Analytics, you can see just how well your ads are performing against your organic results.

Which brings me to SEO (Organic Search Engine Listings) and CPC (Cost per Click):

Several clients have come to us lately asking about adding SEO to their CPC Ads. That's not exactly how it works. CPC ads (whether through Google Adwords, or Yahoo! Search Marketing) are not really "SEO'd" like web sites are. The Relevancy of ads is based on the keywords and/or GeoLocation you choose in your CPC campaign - not the content.

SEO is all about making sure that your web pages are set up to be extremely relevant to specific keywords. CPC is essentially a way to get some decent exposure even if your SEO is failing.

This isn't to say that there's not a relationship between the two. In fact, the point that i am trying to make about SEO and CPC is that while they are different, both are very sound principal and no marketing campaign should think about spending time, energy and resoures on one without considering the other.
