New Approaches for a New Year! (or: hey, go update your site!)
I've mentioned before that content is king. It's paramount to a successful web site that the content is regularly updated, but why?
Because Google cares, and therefore, you should too. Rupert Murdoch may not want Google to index his content but, I promise you this: you do. So update your content.
Not sure what to update? It's pretty simple, really. Just figure out what you're trying to convey and reword it. When I talk to customers, I typically use different words to explain the same thing (web sites, or Content Management Systems) based on who I am talking to. I try to get away from corporate speak and using catchy (and kitchy) industry terms, and use words and phrases that people actually understand. You might be surprised how refreshing it is.
